About 8 weeks ago my Sussex hatched 8 assorted eggs (2 Olive Eggers, 5 Araucanas & 1 unknown). She left the nest after the 7th hatched and I could hear a chick chirping in the 8th cracked, but not hatched egg, so I broke that egg open. All chicks are doing fine, except the one I assisted. The chick is eating, drinking & socialising with the others, but it is not growing feathers. I have inspected the flock & mites is not a problem. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi and welcome to BYC. I’m sure the experts will be along to advise soon.

Welcome to BYC! Where did you get the hatching eggs? This looks like a frizzle chick, she's growing feathers, they're just curling.

aw, it's cute. i think it's normal for frizzles. unless it's frazzled, but i think most people don't breed them like that.

I had a normal feathered BCM who took almost 8 weeks to grow all his feathers. He looked so much like a pin cushion I named him Scraggly! But he eventually grew in all the feathers. Yours looks more like a special feather sort, just give it time.
