One of my Easter egger chicks, Cilantro is still tiny at 5 weeks, she’s half the size or less than the others. She’s eating and drinking fine and seems spunky. She’s developing feathers slower than the rest, but they are still coming in, as of now she has wing feathers, shoulder feathers, a tiny tail and chest feathers starting to grow in. It could be my fault, because me being extremely stupid and way to worried about her being able to eat trimmed her beak because it looked long ( I’ll NEVER do that again ) and it bled but we stopped it, this was at 2 weeks. I don’t think she’d still be this small if that was the case though. She also ate a string that she got from the box they had were living in a couple days ago, that I didn’t see. My mom and I couldn’t get it out so we snipped it and they have grit and she seems fine. I’ll post pictures later today but for now here are pictures from weeks 1-3 I believe. Maybe just the runt. As long as she’s eating, drinking and acting fine I wouldn’t worry about it too much. But maybe someone here with more experience can speak to this.

I would say to never clip a chicks beak again. Unless you have a ton of chickens and are worried about pecking like big factory farms do...

She looks fine. She is probably just a runt and will thrive either way. Sometimes the smallest in the beginning become the biggest in the end.

Just make sure she continues to eat and drink.

Thank you, I won’t learned the hard way, I don’t agree with anything factory farms do and would never do the things they do. I will!

I have two chickens with clipped beaks (I got them that way) they have a hard time getting bugs off the ground or basically anything off the ground. It’s sad.
