These two quail hatched the same day, they’re over a week old and the little one doesn’t seem to be growing. Seems to be doing well overall, eating, drinking, alert... just not growing. Any suggestions?

Where did you get your eggs? Any Jumbo's in the mix from the eggs? Were the eggs the same size?
They’re from my first batch of fertilized eggs from my flock. Some of the eggs were a bit smaller yes. They’re Celadon’s so seem to be a bit of a mix of everything. I’m not sure if any of my hens qualify as a jumbo but there are some that seem slightly larger than my tuxedos and Italians.

Did the one that's not growing have a cracked shell? Every time that I have accidentally cracked a shell during lockdown (It's happened 3 times) I've gotten a healthy, but very slow growing chick that never reaches full size.

It could be some other factor as well. It could be genetic, less food, or just be a runt.

Maybe it's a runt? Try giving it some Nutri-drench/sav-a-chick probiotics + electrolytes in the drinking water. Or some scrambled eggs for extra protein.

I don't know what causes this, but I would give it a chance as long as it is thriving. My little bug was always two weeks behind and basically lived in the feeder. It took her a bit longer to grow, but she eventually grew up. Good luck with your little chick.
