This baby is eating and drinking water, but is not pooping. She is trying to poop and is biting at her bottom. Poor little thing. This morning she had poop on her bottom and I cleaned it off with warm water on a Q-tip and put petroleum jelly on her bottom. That was two hours ago. Any help will be appreciated. Chick is maybe a week old.

I have heard that feeding the chick Mineral oil or olive oil will help the chick relieve constipation. The chick will not like it and you will have to feed it to the chick with a dropper. A few drops ought to help the situation. Hope that this helps.

Thanks. I got the oil down her and poop shot right out! Hahaha! That was slick. Pardon the pun. Hahaha!

Glad that I could help. Does the chick seem happier now? How is it doing after all that? Now you know the trick in case it happens again with another chick. I havent personally used it but I have read it a thousand times on here so I am glad it worked for you.

Well, I'm still watching it. I don't know if it's going on it's own or not. Going to separate it to make sure. It kind of seems weaker than the other chick, but eats good.

Force feeding molasses really helped my constipated chick. A few drops every hour or two during the day. The sugar helps them stay alert, and mine started to kind of like the molasses after the first day or two.
