We got five Easter eggers. They’re about a week old and at first were all lively and active. One, Mabel, had mild pasty butt. We noticed it on day 4 and soaked away the blockage and she immediately had a massive poo which looked normal. We’ve added electrolytes to water and they’re on medicated crumbles. Since then she’s become reluctant to eat and drink and will no longer stand completely. We’ve syringe fed her B12 once a day (3 days of that) and are giving her water by syringe hourly after which she’ll eat quite well. But she walks hunched over almost scooting on her belly. There’s no evidence of injury. I’m wondering if anybody’s experienced anything similar to this and if there’s something you’d recommend. This is our first flock so we’re quite new to chicks.

Welcome To BYC

Can you provide some photos of her, how she stands, of her legs, poop and the brooder setup? and perhaps a video of her actions?
Upload Video to Youtube and provide a link or you can upload to the BYC Gallery, tell us where to find the video.

For Leg Health you want B2(Riboflavin), B12 is Cobalamin, which is one of 8 of essential B Vitamins.

I'd get a bottle of B-Complex and give her 1/4tablet daily. This can be dissolved in a tiny amount of water and syringed into her throughout the day.

She's reluctant to eat/drink on her own after cleaning up pasty butt? But if you syringe/give water, then she will eat after that on her own? That's interesting. Can she seem to see well?

The hunching up is also interesting, photos may help. She is now how old? 7days?
