Columbia river gorge
She pipped fri or saterday, I opend the top of her shell monday and unstuck her head and wing . She Cries most the time unless she is being held close like in a closed hand or tucked into my cleavage. Dosnt seem to be a temp thing I can adjust the temp in her brooder all I want from 91 - 101 and no temp makes her happy. She just cries till I hold her occasionally sleeping for a few minutes here or there. She does not eat or drink on her own. My son and I give her gatoraid soaked onto the tip of a Q tip and she has started to really like that and wants alot till she accidently inhales a little and we have to stop. Cant seem to get her to eat though tried putting tiny peaces in her beak she spits most of them out tried dipping them onto the q tip and she will make a peck at it then be done. She has not grown as far as I can tell from the day she hatched. She has pooped all of 3 times 2 of them being not much more then a match head size all white sticky blob once was half that and also a bit of dark green liquid . What on earth is wrong with her. She dosnt cough or weeze except when we get a little gatoraid the wrong way. She has clear eyes clear skin a seemly well formed if tiny little body she seems normal and healthy in every single way except She IS Not. I keep waiting to wake up to her dead. I didnt sleep at all last night and I avrage between 1 to 4 most nights , its not all that easy to sleep whith a chick in your hand resting on your pillow .
Does anyone know wats wrong with her?

Who knows? I would stop hovering so much over her because chances are good she isn't going to make it regardless of what you do. If she has failure to thrive then there is not much you can do to change that. I also would not be letting your child get involved with the care and raising of this bird unless he is a teen. There is no point to breaking his heart as well as yours.

Make food and water available. Add some chick vitamins to the water. Put a soft stuffed animal in the brooder for the bird to snuggle up to. Monitor it for pasty butt. And let nature take its course. Let the bird live or die as it will.

Good luck.

I've hand reared a number of chicks that shouldn't have hatched. (I assisted) Most of them are just fine now, just a little slow to start. Also some chicks don't actually eat well til several days after they hatch. They have enough yolk to hold them over for about 3 days. I would reccomend Poly-vi-sol mixed in her water, just make sure you get the iron free one. Pedialyte is better for her than gatorade, not as much salt. You can try some finely mash up scrambled eggs if you think she's gone too long without eating. I'm one of the crazy gals that will do just about anything to save my chickens, because they're not just chickens, they are my babies! Heck I gave a chick mouth to mouth once! I'll be thinkin' about your little one. Best of luck.
