Chick pecking!

I have 11 day old chicks (4) and my Amerucana (who i think might me a roo) is pecking at all the other chicks especially
at my speckled sussex who feather are ruffled. any tips?

My chicken mentor advised me to put a little bit of Vicks menthol rub on the chick that was being pecked at. This will defer the culprit from pecking. She said it is harmless and will just give them a bad taste for pecking. I'm a newbie though. good luck.

It might work. I use ichthamol, like from a feed and tack store. It's thick and black and smells awful.

My 6 Rhode Island Reds were pecking at each other when they were about that age and I believe it is just them figuring out their pecking order an mine stopped when they were about 7-8 weeks old. Just keep an eye on them to make sure they don't get hurt!
