I have chicks I have chicks! I can't believe it! They are now 10 days old!!!!! Looks like I missed the window for those adorable baby pics as these guys are HUGE and not wanting to be picked up out of the brooder. I thought they were going to die from fright so I got as many as I could. Wondering about Gray EE, Boy or girl? (Chest bumps quite a bit) and just wanted lots and lots of posts confirming how ADORABLE miss marge is. I luf her.

:love:love I seriously wondered if I would even LIKE chickens and I spend an hour (at least) every night watching them. And Marge, she steps on my hand when I put it in there. One of the only ones....

I loved her as soon as I opened the box, she is so sweet and pretty!

Pictures are fluffy yellow one with strip on head is marge. Fluffy black/gray one is unidentified EE (boy or girl???) Head shot is the Wellie roo.

So waddya think?!?! I got chickens!!!!

Yes, It really is amazing. I feel like they are almost double the size if not more. THey are becoming less cute, and less nice (!). I hope they mellow out soon. Their grit is almost ready, I hope they like treats!

oh they will like treats;) and they warm right back up to you once they figure out treats come from you. My chicks were skittish around me at first, but ever since that first spaghetti noodle they come flying up to the top of the brooder jockeying for position on my lap and arms. treat or no treat!

Your babies are pretty. I just love EE's. I have 8 standard size in my brooder right now, and one bantam. They are the sweetest things. Are these your first chickens ever? Chicks do go through what is described as their "teenage" phase, where they are gangly, and not as friendly, and then they do mellow out again. I swear, last summer I wanted to strangle my Marans rooster, he was such a brat! He was always getting into trouble, and he was the ring leader, teaching all the other birds how best to be a brat, lol. But he calmed down tremendously and is now one of my favorites. I currently have 4 Marans chicks in my brooder, and one is acting just like my boy did last year. It's being a total brat, lol, and it's only a week old! Handle your birds frequently so they are used to your touch, and people, and stay friendly. I handle all of my chicks daily and I did the same with all of my adult birds when they were chicks, and my birds are calm and very tolerant of people now. I have one Bantam Cochin hen that seeks out our company and will come sit with us and have conversations. She also likes to go for wagon rides, bike rides, and she lets my older daughter take her roller skating up and down the street. She LOVES the attention. And I handled her constantly from day one. My EE chicks are 3 weeks old now and trying to play thaat game where they don't want me to hold them, but I do anyway, and they love to come sit with me. I have one little one, named Hershey, that is super calm and loves to snuggle still. I guess someone forgot to tell her/him that they are a teenager, lol. Your little Marge is beautiful. I got 2 whites out of my hatch and one is feathering in white with black markings on the wings, and the other is feathering in all white, but it looks like maybe she has some soft creamish or tan markings on her wings. The one with the black markings is a roo, and we named him Wendell (it was originally Wendy), and the white one we named Butterscotch. EE's are such delightful birds. Wait til they are full grown, their colors and those muffs will amaze you! You won't believe how much they change between now and adulthood. You won't believe it's the same birds!
