Pic from last week. Yesterday I saw him take advantage of either his adoptive mom or aunt…🤮🤮🤮

The bigger hens chase him away. She also was pissed.

I know this is natural….but gross!!

At 15 weeks old, Thistle is still behaving respectfully to humans and learning how to be respectful with hens (I have 24 hens between him and a 2nd (bantam) rooster. The older hens are between ages 1-7 years old (and some are bigger than him still, as large breeds—this means he can still get his ass kicked if he gets out of line😅).

My older hens appear to like him, mostly. He & the Silkie/D’Uccle boy (hatched here from a beloved Silkie rooster that was killed by a raccoon) are getting along well, so far. Actually, the bantam defended another bantam hen that Thistle was trying to forcefully mate. I was relieved to see him back down. (The bantam’s mom is named Ghost Pepper for a reason!)
