My first flock is a year old now. The big Partridge Rock went broody and insisted on setting, so I gave it a go. One egg quit, but the other hatched Thursday... (Delaware + Cochin roo with momma):

Like Atomic Ranch I got my flock started last year and when Sally went broody so my wife convinced me to let her set. So I gave in with 2 eggs and today I went out to collect eggs and she acted different. When I went back a little later I noticed something black while she puffed up at me. So risking my hands to grab a broody, moody, PMSing hen, I moved her to the next nest box and This is what I found.
