Chick pictures!

Kimquat; oh my gosh, that's pretty soon! Your Silkie is going to be a busy mama. ;) I'll bet you'll spend a lot of time watching the little ones run around!

Nuthatch; I'm very sorry to hear about your hatching egg experience...the fact that the seller has no items on sale at the moment is a bit suspicious to me. Hmm... /squint. But still, your Lavender Orpington babies that made it through are BEYOND ADORABLE!

What a photogenic duo!

I've often wondered how shipping eggs and baby chicks actually works out for everyone. I'd be pretty nervous about it, I'm sure. Fortunately, there are lots of local breeders and chicken/small animal swaps where I live. I'm so sorry that happened - I know how devastated I would be. I hope you have better luck next time.

Akane ~ She sure is. I'm going to try candling the eggs tonight and I'm hoping things go well. I'm trying to prepare myself mentally for any unforeseen tragedies. I've actually already cancelled two outings I had planned the week they're due to hatch because I want to spend my free time watching the babies. XD

Just FYI, my first shipment of eggs came from South Carolina to California (we are at 6000ft elevation, btw), I received 14 eggs in perfect condition. It was even a holiday weekend when I ordered so the seller had to hold them. I sucessfully hatched 7. There are 5 Black Copper Marans, a light Brahma and a dark Brahma. That was my first time, and I think I could do better today. That's why I'm a little concerned about the seller of the Lavs.
