I put pie plates under the water-er to catch splashes. I am not a fan of wood chips so I use 2nd hand table place matts that I throw out, when I brood indoors, this one happens to be bamboo. I like to give them a mirror to look at, that you can also get 2nd hand. I cover cracker boxes with material I get 2nd hand (make very small stitches. ) It is a lot of work but they love their beds. I put food out on the floor of the brooder box to get them to eat, when they can jump, I put food in an old plastic silver wear tray, or a shoe box lid. They love to get in their food and kick it about but should be high enough to catch food.
