Chick Pricing

I live in the Midwest and so far this year every chick add I have seen is $4 for mixed. I don't know why everyone is choosing exactly $4, but the 10+ adds I have seen all say $4 so I guess everyone around here is on the same page😂 Several of those adds also had buy 10 get 1 free for a discount. For purebred I have seen anywhere from $8-$14 depending on the breed and/or sexed.

I sell BYM, (they are Easter Egger mix) chicks for $3 each. If I had a purebred offering, I can’t see charging more than $6 straight run unless it was a rare showing breed. As long as you sell in the state, there is no NPIP requirement.

Got you, I'm in Maryland. Here, it's not even legal to sell chicks or hatching eggs in state much less out of state without NPIP. Currently I am only selling table eggs with my state packer/producer license until my stock is good enough to be worthwhile to maintain an NPIP.
Really? Even privately? In state?
