Chick pushing/falling backwards/won't stand up?

Thank you all! I'll keep up the electrolyte water and help keep it warm. I have it in a bin with two younger Cochin chicks and they let it nuzzle under their wings (I think they'll be good mamas). They're in there laying together now snoozing away.

What is the wattage of the heat lamp bulbs. Unfortunately, the red ones are usually 250 watts, and need to be raised higher to lower the temperatures. The white lamp bulbs could be lower wattage, but the reds do allow the chicks to sleep and help prevent pecking. Premier 1 Supplies online has 125 or 150 watt red bulbs for sale. There are also chick warmers available without lights, such as the Brinsea Ecoglow or the one Premier 1 sells, or you can build your own with a heating pad brooder.

Update: seemed to be doing better last night and was standing on it's own, but didn't make it through the night. Thanks everyone for your input. I love this community already!!

Any time you have a chick panting, you have a crisis in the works. Your brooder should NEVER be warm enough for the chicks to pant. If you are brooding in the house, 75 - 100w should be sufficient. You only need a tiny foot print of heat in the brooder for the chicks to warm up. The rest of the brooder should be at ambient room temperature. If you have not done so, check out @Blooie 's thread and 2 articles about MHP brooding.

Oh yes! I immediately changed the bulb back to the lower watt bulb we have, however it's white light and not red, so it didn't prevent the chicks from pecking this little guy's red toe.
