So we ordered chicks for the first time and we were ready. However 2 arrived dead then over the next 3 days 5 more died. It was sad but fortunately we hadn't bonded too much with them.

Now that I'm done rambling, Ideal Poultry is replacing the ones that died and we will have them this week. My real question is, will I be able to put the 3 day olds in the same brooder as the 1 week olds?

Here's a couple pics of our babies.

I think they should be fine as long as one area of the brooder is warm enough for the little ones and some area for the older ones to get away from the heat. Also watch them the fist few days to make sure the older ones are not picking on the small ones

Awww thank you. We got a variety you can see the list below. The hard part is I don't know 100% what I have left after losing some. I described them to the hatchery and the took a best guess based on what I ordered. I do know for a fact I lost my partridge Cochin so they are replacing her.

wow!! That's a lot of breeds! I love it!! Great breeds. Sorry about your losses :hugs

I wanted a variety because we are new to chicks and chickens we have 4 adult birds we got from someone. When we got chicks I thought it would be cool to get 1 of each so we can learn about the various breeds and the ones we like.

I can't believe how quickly they grow. They are already almost double in size since we got them.

that is a smart idea! I am getting my first chicks in April, but I have heard that they grow extremely fast! I am excited to see for myself. :weee
