Chick question

Yes if they are eating any solid foods other than their starter they need grit. You can sprinkle it on their food or offer it in a dish seperately. I would offer tham a limited amout the first time or two, they go after it like kids to candy. Like mnferalkitty said you can buy chick grit which is ground finer or use parakeet grit. Once they are outside regularly they won't require much extra if any. My feed store had a price break at 10 lbs but my six have used half of it in 3 months. Now I just throw a handful in the run about once a week and let them find it on their own.
That's ok on not posting a pic of the pasty butt, we are all aquainted with chicken poop, you will be too in a very short while. I've heard plain yogurt or adding ACV to their water will help along with lowering the temp.

I gave them parakeet grit because I had to run to walmart any way. I offered it to them separatly and they didn't seem terribly interested. It is mainly very tiny sand not the usual oyster stuff you get at most feed stores. The chicks are going outside for play time for an hour or so a day. They aren't three weeks old yet so they are still in the house at night.

Not too much Parakeet grit. Most has calcium. You don't want to feed chicks calcium. Only use grit if they are getting other foods besides chick starter, Which I wouldn't do until they are 3 or 4 weeks old. When they are outside they'll get all the grit they need from the dirt.

I remember once, when i had to clean off 17 cockerel bottoms, and they didn't grow back their bottom feathers until they were a few weeks old. Just keep that in mind if they are looking kinda bald LOL
