I am getting 5 chicks, but I already have a feeder for adult chickens. Do chicks need a special small feeder rather than a large one where you put the food in the top? Same for water? What are the basics to buy specially for chicks? Plz answer.

Chicks grow so fast, I don't recommend that people buy special feeders if they're only going to have them once or twice.

Use your adult feeders and if the chicks don't seem to be able to eat or drink properly just put the food in any small container and use a dish with pebbles in for water.

I have a friend that raises chicks by using a bag of feed for bedding and just let the chicks eat everything at their feet.

If you have a box for a brooder, the larger feed and waterer may not fit real well. My chicks are drinking out of a full size waterer and feeder, all though I have the small ones too.

If your set up goes with the bigger ones, they should be fine.

I do not recommend using a big fount, because chicks can fall in and drown. Use a chick fount until they are older.
