I'm thinking of including an information sheet with the chicks that I sell. I want to include all the basics heat, food, housing etc but maybe some other info such as signs and symptoms of illness, preventing splayed leg.
Does this sound like a good idea?
Also can anyone think of any other info that would be useful ?
Thanks in advance

You might want to include the titles to favorite chicken books that have helped you. I would include websites (such as this one). You can never have too much information.

What a great idea!

I agree, the more information, the better...about raising the chicks, the breed of chicken, maturity rates, care and feeding, and web page links. As a newbie, I want all this information. That's why I find myself checking BYC daily

I have a lot of information on raising hens on my website below (Backyard Hencam). I think you are providing your customers with a great service. Too many people loose chicks because they are not prepared. Perhaps a list of items they need before they get the chicks would be helpful.

I agree, what a wonderful idea! DH and I had a similar idea for providing care information to people who buy chicks from us. We were thinking about putting in a few quick paragraphs summarizing their health, developmental milestones, and diet from hatch/chickhood to POL. Perhaps putting in a few sentences about environmental requirements would be helpful, as well. I agree with previous postings about citing books and websites that have been helpful in your own poultry hobby.

Good luck and have fun!

Its a good idea if the people buying them don't know.
Around here you'd get laughed at - most folks who want a mess of chicks know what's up already.

But if you get newcomers, it;s a great thing.
