"Chick Sales" Did you know that....

Let me tell you first that I had the most enjoyable and interesting -- personal journal to read (Friend of the family). Anyway, upon reading her journal she mentioned the word 'chick sales'. Even though she raised chickens (farm only) it wasn't about chickens. I contacted the daughter (her Mother that wrote the journal has passed on) to ask her what her Mother was really talking about. Get this...'chick sales' is another name for outhouse, privy, etc. I learn something new everyday. I thought I would pass this tidbit along in case it hasn't been mentioned before. My 99 year old Grandmother informed me that it was also the name of a gentleman. She thinks he wrote a book. I have not come across that information yet. Has anyone heard of this before?

We used to refer to our outhouse as the "oval office". At camp they were called freds because a lot of boys have the name John.

Oh dear! I have many years worth of journals and I shudder at the thought of them being read . . . .. thanks for reminding me to assign my dear Sister to burn them once I'm gone - WITHOUT reading them, LOL
