Ok, so I had a broodie that hatched 4 chicks and was still sitting on 5. This evening I checked her and she had kicked all 5 out. I tried to put them back under her, but she kicked them out again. Later when I checked they were all cold. So I took them in to candle, and 2 were empty, but 3 looked like they might have something in them. Only candled a couple times before, I wasn't sure what I was looking at with the 3 that may have something in them. I didn't know if they were dead, or only half baked.. so.. I carefully cracked the top of one sadly to discover the little chick was still in his sack, and still alive! We slipped the other 2 under another broodie who should be hatching soon.
So, I put him in an egg carton and under a heat lamp, and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should do. Do it leave it? Can i lay it on it's side, would that be better?
Any advice would help!
Thank you!
