one of my silkie chicks seems to sneezing. it sits all calm-like and then BAM its head flutters around and mouth is hanging wide open. I picked the chick up and it sat in my hand and was all calm and had a little shaking feeling (though the shaking may be because i haven't handles these chicks much). Is it possible for the chick to have a cold? its on medicated purnina start n'grow, and i also have some terramycin(?)*the medication that is a yellow powder that you mix in the water. so should i start giving the chicks the medicine again? i gave it to them in the water when i first brought them home just to be on the safe side as far as colds and jitters and so forth. Any ideas or opinions is much appreciated..

What kind of bedding are you usin for them? If you use sawdust I would stop using that because she may be inhaling it. My chickens will sometimes inhale the dust in thier food and have a sneezing fit.

... because I am NOT a vet, NOT a professional and just a mere fellow chicken lover like yourself, I won't give you advice, but will tell you what happened to me recently:
I had a little black Silkie, brought him home with 4 other chicks, and a few days later, it developed a bad case of sneezes. None of the others got "sick" and I wasn't going to bring a chick into my vet for sneezing (for one thing, most people would look at me like I was crazy for racking up a vet bill for something as simple as sneezing - that and the fact that the chick cost me 79Cents)
I thought for sure the little thing would die from Pneumonia or something drastic, but 4 or 5 days of sneezing and acting weak... all of a sudden it got better... so I can only assume that baby chicks do get colds or "kennel cough" - probably from an immature immune system... I hope yours gets to feeling better soon!
