Do chicken chicks sound like song birds? It sounds like springtime in here. Maybe an aviary. I've not heard this much bird noise .... ever. it is just one chick.

While zipping, he sang when pecking. while walking around his brooder, he makes peeps, chirps, chitter, brrrrdddddd, etc. He makes all kinds of racket when eating. I mean lots! I can hear him from three rooms away (~12m).

Is this normal?

I thought chicks made little peeps. not this

I dunno, but I have a Silkie pullet that at just shy of 5 months old, still sounds like a parakeet!

It finally went to sleep. aaappp. it is awake again.

in the wild this would attract predators from miles around.

i can't imagine having two, three or more.

I would love to hear the little munchkin! But you're right, good thing he/she is not in predator territory!

I had an Australorp chick make the same sounds. Sounded like I was in the jungle.

My chickens make a cooing sound just like a dove, really soft though.

Jaguar6 - Yes, the jungle. that is what i was just thinking. that a monkey was going to swing across the room. the mother of this chick is an australorp. no idea what its pop's was.

dntd - this is no cooing! this little guy is more vociferous than a singing male canary of mine.

I have a little Barred Rock chick that honks constantly(I think she is part goose).

For some reason, the happier she is, the louder she honks.

Sounds like he's a keeper. Doesn't the squeeky wheel get the grease? Seriously, I would love to hear him - must be kinda cute??????

we've a barred rock hen. she is a honker as well. she makes the same noise a goose makes when approaching it. all kinds of racket.
