Chick starter feed mash??

I just took some of my chick starter feed added a little water and made a mash out of it, and my babies just went wild over it!! Will it hurt them to have it like this?, Because it seems the eat better with it like this.

There is no need to moisten it, but no harm either. Some say it helps minimize the wasting of feed.
