From What I've read on this site it is very important to make sure your Chick Starter is fresh so that the nutrients and vitamins have not begun to break down.
I paid a visit to my local feed store today to see what I would be able to get there. They have small bags of the Purina SunFresh Medicated feed. I looked and they were dated January 26 2008. The bag stated it was good through 2011. Would this feed be okay to get for chicks arriving the later part of March? Also, does it matter if the feed bags are exposed to the elements at the feed store? They are indoors, but sunlight comes in on them indirectly as does the heat/cold. I didn't know if this would affect their potency.

Secondly, where is the best place to get the electrolytes from? Again, my feed store had some on the shelf but it was covered in dust and cobwebs. Notr exactly fresh I wouldn't think. Thanks for any advice.
