I have 10 week old and a 13 week and two already laying eggs they eat layer feed but my little ones like to pack on there food whick I found out it's bad after the fact so and ideas how to feed them .

I feed Flock raiser to all my chickens, any age or sex, with oyster shell separately offered for the laying hens. It's easier! Yes, it costs more than the cheapest layer feeds, but better nutrition pays off for all of them.
I don't spend extra for organic feeds for them, as all my food intake isn't organic either. Some, but not all.
Chicken feed is cheap! Dog or cat foods, especially are much more expensive!
We aren't saving money by growing our own chickens and their eggs, we are getting a better product, entertainment, and knowing that our birds have better lives.

Layer feed is formulated for small laying hens (Leghorns mostly) who live in cages in climate controlled commercial production facilities, live maybe to 18 months of age, and eat nothing else. It's perfect for them!
Many of us have larger heritage breed types, who live outside in all weathers, and eat other stuff too. We also may have roosters, chicks, older birds, molting birds, and other individuals who just don't need a layer feed.
