At what age should i take my chicks off chick starter feed and what do i go to when I do?

You should feed them starter until about 20 weeks of age (onset of lay). Then you want to change over to Layer ration, if they are layers. Meatbirds get grower ration earlier. Remember that if you are feeding medicated chick starter, they will have medication in their system about a week or so, so they will lay medicated eggs. This is why you switch to layer around 20 weeks, which is a couple weeks before an average time of when birds begin to lay.

It also depends on the brand of feed you are going to feed..
You can give them a starter for the first 5 weeks the switch to a Grower & Developer until they start to lay (point of lay) then switch to a layer.. Some companies have a Starter /Grower then you would just feed the Starter /Grower until they start to lay then switch to a layer...
I myself feed a Starter /Grower to all my birds from hatch until they die.. Chicks, Growers, Layers and breeders, the Layers and Breeders just get a added Vitamin/ Mineral Mix...
It makes life alot easer for the wife and I..
