A lot has to do with who you talk to.
If you look on Buckeye's web page they recommend feeding --
Starter -- From hatch to 12 weeks
Grower -- From 12 weeks to Laying
Layer -- at point of Laying
I my self feed a 21% protein Starter/ Grower that Kalmbach Feed puts out to all my birds chicks, growers, layers and breeders. I don't see the point in switching feeds if your going to give oyster shells anyway.
