we have hatched plenty of healthy chicks this clutch under two broody hens, but one of the late bloomers hatched from the egg starting to pip at the small end, it made it out of the egg but is coneccted to a bloody section of the egg through the vent, we removed the hard shell with out tearing the membrane so there was less weight, then we wet the membrane and the vent area to try and loosen it to coming off but we have no idea wat it's connected to and how dangerous it is... the chick has quite a peep to it but cannot walk or really stand because the weight of the membrane. it seemes to move it's self just fine but us moving it, touching or moving while holding it seemes to cause pain or atleast discontent
