When is it ok for a chick to have "treats" other than their starter food? Stuff such as fruits and veggies?

Ours are now 6 days old and are doing well and look like that would attack and eat anything in site.

Most of mine would not touch people food till a good 6 weeks old. I tried to offer it, but they were not interested. I think you can give them little treats to try, but go easy. I think it can screw up their little systems if they get too much people food.

I gave my 2 week olds leftover scrambled eggs, bell peppers, crumbled toast and such, they were hesitant at first but figured out they liked the stuff. I've found my birds to be leary of new stuff at any age. I usually have to feed them something several times before they learn to really tear into it.

Thanks, that's kinda what we thought too. We've only given them their starter food and mixed in some grit with it. We gave some plain bread yesterday and a couple liked it, but we didn't leave it with them.

We'll try other things as they get older.
