Chick trying to peck light

I have a barred rock pullet (a 2 week old ) that spends a lot of her time trying to leap up and peck the light bulb in her brooder. She cannot reach it, but today I fixed another brooder box with a higher ceiling so she cannot reach it.

Why does she do this ???

Curiousity. They're inquisitive little critters who explore the world with their beaks.

Careful around chickens and don't let them too close to your eyes. My 2-week old BO chick is suddenly interested in mine. i have to watch her closely.

I moved my 5 week olds out to the coop but put a light in the coop. I guess I did not put the light high enough and they pecked it until the bulb blew. I thouht maybe it just burnt out but the 2nd did the same thing. Then the 3rd one I watched them peck at it until it blew as well.

They went without a light from that point forward.
