Chelly, I was just going to ask her how she made her brooder, I've got to get busy and make mine, I'm getting my chicks Sat. morning.

Well, we bought one of those big storage containers at WMart, about 40"long by 20"wide by 20" tall. Then DH made a frame from scrap wood and stapled hardware cloth on it, then screwed this onto the front from the inside (with sheetrock screws) so that there were no sharp edges anywhere. He was going to do the same thing with the lid that came with it, but instead just made another large frame out of the scrap wood and hardware cloth that fits over the top. It turned out great and we will save it in case we ever decide to get any more babies.

He did a very nice job on your brooder. Your dog is cute watching the chicks.

My chicken escort my dogs when I take them out to do their business. One dog (Sasha) I don't keep on a leash at home when we go outside, my other dog is on one. The chickens sometimes get sniffed but the dogs don't chase them. Major does bark at them when they peek in my front door and hang out by the front entryway. Its a glass front door and the chickens are just tall enough to see in. My little chicks are still in their brooder.

my dog mollie is just like that lol. She sits and watvhes the buff orps play. she tries to get her paw in there to pet them but she can only get the paw halfway
