chick walkin plank

The plank that leads up to the chicken door of the henhouse... I'm going to use a 2" x 10" board. My question is, if my henhouse is 3' up off the ground, how steep (or not steep) an angle should I make the chick walkin plank? And how far apart do I space those wrungs or steps? I plan on using 1" x 2" pieces for the steps.

Mine sounds like what you are planning. You can see it on my page I believe. My run is 8 ft long and the coop is 4x4 so the horizontal distance covered by my 2x10 is 4 ft. I used shims for the steps and had them too far apart so I added a split shim in the middle of each space I had left, every 2.5 - 3 inches maybe.

They'll learn to fly up most of the way. A chicken's natural stride? Not nearly as long as we anticipate. They, like us, also shorten their stride when climbing an incline. They also like the cross bars close together when descending, as would we.
