ref to the chicks legs, i have had no problems with legs, folks these serama's are not the easiest birds to raise from eggs, anything can kill them, drafts, flipping over on backs for periods of time, cold water, not enough heat, unless the broody hen is a great mother -- raise the birds your self.. i start with a 10-20 gallon fish tank a heat lamp and paper towels. fresh warm in a drown proof waterer and a small food dish with 28% chick starter ground fine.. then after a week or so move them to a larger brooder with shavings, pine or aspen, heat lamp and a cover , and reg chick starter.
several things can happen, i have hatched over 80 serama chicks in the last month and have more hatching tonight and have only lost 2 so far this month using my methods.
corey i am happy to help you out again, but i would probally not use the hen again. let me know when you want some eggs again... i may just have to send you some birds...
