Just went out to check on my almost one month old chicks. Found this little lady. Is her leg broken???
She is limping, and doesn’t want to walk or stand. Other leg looks fine.

I have a video, but can’t figure out how to upload it.

Any help is appreciated!

Can you feel a break or joint out of alignment? You'll have to examine the leg.

If you have vet care, that would be best.

For video, upload to youtube and provide a link, you can also upload to the BYC Gallery, just let us know where to find it.

If you feel a break, you may find the splinting manual helpful.

Thank you very much!
When I was first feeling it, I thought the joint was dislocated, so I picked up a fee other chicks, and they all felt the same.

No swelling,(yet).
And she has not lost interest in food, water, or the other chicks. She still walks on it some, but prefers to keep it pretty straight.
No one’s hopping on her, or picking at her, so I’ll probably keep her with every one else to reduce stress.

Hopefully she just sprained it and this will get better on its own in a week or so.
It wouldn't hurt to give her 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily for a couple of weeks for leg support. You can find B-Complex on the vitamin aisle of Walmart, CVS, etc.

Good idea keeping her with her friends, they are much happier with the flock if at all possible.

I’m starting to feel kind of worried about her. I don’t see any improvement, and she stands like this a lot:

Oh, and how would I give just her a supplement?

Can you feel of her joint, does it feel out of place?

You may need to set and splint the leg, it's hard to know without being able to feel of it.

To give the piece of B Complex tablet, just open her beak and put the tablet into her beak or you can crush it up and put it in small amount of yogurt, scrambled egg, etc. however you can get it into her is fine.

It could be out of place…
She doesn’t really complain when I touch it though. And there is no swelling.
I don’t know how to set a bone, and I don’t know any vets.😢
Poor baby!💔

The only think I can point you to is the splinting manual.

I had an adult hen that fractured her leg, I was able to wrap and stabilize the leg and it healed.

That’s good to hear!
She keeps her toes curled, so after reading that manual, I thought it could be a fool injury, so I tried a shoe. She,(and the other chicks) HATED it!
So I took it off, and made another search for broken bones. If she did brake something, it was probably the femur. Not really sure how to help that.

Oh, by the way, thank you for that manual, I’m so glad to know where to look when I need it!

HHEEEYYYY,
UPDATE:
Lilly has healed up wonderfully! I think that it ended up being a pulled muscle or something like that.
She still does this cute waddle thing when she runs,(kinda lifting her foot up awkwardly), and it’s adorable!🥰🥰
But she’s running a lot now, and jumping of of things!
(Watch that fragile leg of yours, darling!)

Thank you for your help!!💖💖
