Wouldn't try clipping it. It will fall off on its own when it's ready. Isolate the chick with a stuffed animal as a friend and hang tight. When and if it falls off, put neosporin on the belly button.

i 100% agree here. i have had some hatch with their "junk" hanging on and they would drag it around til it fell off on its own. i wouldn't cut it off, just let it dry up and it will break off on its own. adn as moodychicken said, if it was yolk or guts, there would be a big hole in its abdomen. so.....I say, no hole, no yolk/guts hanging out! IMO!
I'd tie it shut with a piece of string and hope it's nothing important.... keep it away from the other chicks, they might decide to start picking on it.
Im happy to report that she is even stronger today! Her belly was never opened, thankfully, just attached like an umbilical cord to that "stuff". O_O
I saw her drink on her own and she was trying to eat a sisters feathers. Yesterday all she did was sleep. She wouldnt even open her eyes at me when I picked her up. Today she is fiestier. I really, really hope she makes it! Thanks for all the help guys, it really means a lot to us! I will keep you updated.
Heres sending good thoughts your way. I am hoping its just like a human babies umbilical cord that after a couple of days it just falls off. Please keep us posted on how Hope is progressing.
She was even trying to walk on her tippy toes so she wouldnt step on it all the time. It was a quick clip and no blood at all. She has now opened her eyes more and just ate some chick food! Getting water on her own. She is so little and sweet
We just took the incubator apart and the stuff that was in the bottom from her was yuck! It must have been most of her yoke. It was a dark, dark yellow color and a lot of it. Im assuming she didnt absorb much of her yoke at all. She hatched during the night and was in there for about an hour before I went to see her. So, I know it was her stuff in the bottom of the incubator.
I'll keep updating this in case someone else has a baby like this. Checking out old threads and pictures really helps me understand things that my chickens or chicks do and go through.
