Just noticed one of my porcelain d'uccle's has something funky going on. Her lower jaw hangs off to he right, like its crooked. Dislocated? Broken?! she acts overall ok...not lethaargic at all. She did drink and she can cirp although I haven't noticed her eat yet. I will keep a close eye. She also opens and closes her mouth continuously...as if it is annooying or maybe hurts? I dunno...What do you think could have happend? She is in with 3 and 4 week old barred rocks and isa browns...and also 6 other bantams. Anything I should do besides watch her? Thanks!

Was it like that when it was hatched? Could be genetic? If it just happened I guess I'd try to straighten it, maybe see if it just popped out

She is 3 weeks old and this is the first I have noticed of it. I messed with it a little and it slides into place easily but when I let loose it goes back crooked. I held some feed in my hand and she pecked at it and about the 6th peck it looked like she got enough to swallow but it definately seemed to take more effort

Not sure if you can splint it with something, without blocking the nostrils?? But to kinda hold it from "dislocating" until the ligaments get stronger??? Hopefully someone with more experience can help. Good luck!

So splinting it may hekp the muscles get stronger? She is super tiny. I don't know where to even begin. She's about the sixe of a golf ball. And I've never splinted anything before. And how would she eat?

i have a 2 week old with this problem, her lower jaw goes out to the left a bit. seems to be able to eat fine and everything, i just feel bad for her.

I have a 3 week old chick with a crooked beak to. I don't know what you can do with it, aslong as they can eat and drink they are probably ok. I would take your chick to the vet though.

My 8 week old chicks jaw is broke, she was perfect yesterday when I went to put them back in the coop I saw it. Are there any links on the possibility of helping her? Can I splint her jaw, is there a link? I don't mind babying her forever but if there is something I can do for her I'd be happy. It just happened today I put her with my Bantam chicks she keeps trying to eat but I can't tell if she is getting anything in her.
