I have a 3 day old chick with a crushed foot. They were all on the concrete slab and the donkey tried to lay down on them. Before he got any further than on his knees, I got him back up. In the mean time he stepped on one of the chicks little foot. It is still bleeding. I soaked him in the sink with some warm water. Right now he is in a bucket on paper towels. The foot still seems to be bleeding alittle and I know he is in pain!

So, what can I do to help him out???

Well, probably not what you want to hear, but at that age, it'll probably die from shock anyway, so I would cull it.

I had a 3 week old chick with a broken leg this morning, culled it. The goose had gotten ahold of it and swung it around, the foot was bleeding (from his bill roughing it up). Poor thing couldn't even lay down without laying on his side.

sorry

Thanks - We are giving him a little time to see how he is doing first. So far he is eating and drinking fine - just holding that little foot up under himself!

I would clean it up with some Neosporin (however you spell it) use some flour to make it stop bleeding and keep him seperate from the others for sure which I think you know. Give him some sugar water or gatorade to help with the shock of it all.
