One morning I saw that my rooster was holding his foot up and when he walked he just used the top of his foot to walk on. He was still eating, drinking and normally interacting.
I searched online and found on a Dutch chicken webpage that it could be a sign of Marek. I was devastated as I understood that he would get sicker and sicker and die a terrible death.
I got advised to give the vitamin mix in the water (what I regularly do) for a few days and aspirin. No change. I also dewormed him and my two other chicken. No change at all in his behaviour. Every morning and evening I hold him and move his lame foot to prevend the muscles from shortening.
And now it's about 5 weeks later and he's still alive and kicking, with his lame foot. And this morning I received an email from Back Yard Chickens! I went to this forum and went to this forum.
I just read about the vit B. Will start doing that today.
Any other ideas what this could be?
Thanks for everybodies effort to help each other!

1/2 of a human B-Complex once a day may help. If you have the liquid, it's half of their eye dropper.

I'd soak his foot twice a day in warm Epsom salt water for about 15 minutes, too, prior to the physical therapy, which I'm sure is helping too.

B complex has riboflavin or B2. Make sure that any supplement has riboflavin listed on the label. The sooner it is used with a deficiency, the better the chances of helping. A nerve injury could also cause this. Let us know how he gets along.
