When I tape a foot like that I wrap a quarter in tape and put it on the bottom of the foot and tape it all together. If a quarter is to heavy you can use some foam, cardboard, or stiff plastic

Also it would be good to isolate him--for his own good. I just had to do this with a chick and after a couple of days of being taped he is fine now. It's just really tricky to get it to lay flat when you tape it, but keep working with it and you will get it.

A friend of mine gave me a medical bandage(it's a roll, like gauze) that stick together, but not with tape. This stuff works great! I could even see through it to trim around the toes!! I think they sell it at wal-mart. I am not very handy with tape!LOL

where is his toes? Are they torn off or twisted under his foot.

in the first picture they are twisted under it's foot in the second they are out strait in the boot

In most cases, I KNOW they can be corrected within a week an half or so.

My lil D'Uccle was so tiny when she first hatched, I couldnt get a boot to work or stay on and like you said, they all picked at it, but mostly her.

I finally gave up after about a dozen times til she was just a wee bit bigger and I could actually SEE her toes. lol

I had to leave it on for about 3 to 4 days since I waited a week plus a couple days, but they are perfect now!
