Chick With Delayed Feathering?!

Yesterday I get a new issue of Backyard Poultry magazine and one article was about Rickets in poultry. Very unpleasant subject. One of the symptoms was delayed feathering. If your bird gets worse, you might want to use a different brand of feed. Just in case.
I hope your chick is just a bit slow growing feathers.

Nothing wrong with looking at nutrition and other factors, but often a roo feathers more slowly than the pullets. And I agree, that is a roo.

I'll definitely take a close look at my nutrition, just in case. Preventative medicine is my favorite kind!

Do you guys think this chick is ok to go outside with his siblings? They're all outside now, have been doing fine. But I worry about him and his funky feathers ...

Does anyone know if bantam barred rocks are one of the delayed feathering breeds? I have just one of those, about a week old, and she doesn't have any feathers started at all yet. It's way to early to worry about it, but I feel a little bad for her. She desperately wants to be able to flutter around with the others, who have a good start on their wing feathers already. She's totally adorable when she tries though.

If your coop is draft free and the temps. stay as warm as it's been, I would put him out with the rest.
