One of our chicks hatched with veiny yolk sac, not fully absorbed. I did not cut it off a suggested elsewhere as i was worried about bleeding. I have let it build strength and it is doing vey well. Though its feathers have not fluffed so well as it got yolky blood on them. This is improving.
The remains are dried on its behind like a blackened sultana. Instead of cutting it off i was thinking of tieing some cotton around to cut off any blood sppply if any and to help it fall off?

You may have better luck posting this in the Incubating & Hatching Eggs section of the forum. In the meantime, consider this a bump to get you back at the top of the queue. Sorry I can't help more than that. I don't hatch many eggs.

Good luck.

i would say thats not yolk but umbilical cord and will come off by itself

leave it 1 week so chick gets dtrwngth and cut it off it will be fine

keep some antiseptic to hand just incase of bleeding
