Chick with eyes closed

I have a 5 day old Americana chick from tractor supply and she can’t open her eyes. Yesterday I was able to open them and she was a normal active chick. This morning they were sealed again and she’s having trouble finding her food and water. Does anyone know how I can help her?

Does the eyes look like they are crusted shut? There is a cream that would be good to put on the eyes, can't remember the name,@Eggcessive might know it.

Yes! They were crusted and I got them open, but as soon as she slept they recrusted.

Just found it, the eye stuff is called terramycin. That would be safe to put on the eye, and it might keep it better lubricated.

Clean the eyes twice a day with warm water wash cloth or saline eye wash. Apply Terramycin eye ointment 2-3 times a day. In an emergency if Terramycin cannot be found at your feed store, plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment can be used in the eyes. It would be good to give a boost with a drop or two of Poultry NutriDrench as well.
