In the Brooder
I picked 3 Easter egger chicks about 4 weeks ago. 2 days later the heating bulb burned out and I thought all three were dead. 2 hours of heaters and warm water bottles later all three revived, but 1 passed 3 days later and another the day after that. I think they had some form of organ damage from the cold.
The surviving girl (we named her Frostpunk) was doing well for a while. She lost 2 whole toes on one foot and the tip of one on the other foot, but was learning to hobble pretty well.
Yesterday I got home from work and went to check and a good portion of her beak had fallen off. The tips of the wound were red but already clotted. I mixed some gruel from her feed and some water but she refused to eat. Though it was a struggle, she ate some dry food today, but I cannot get her to drink any water. She won't eat an egg yolk, and I'm worried she won't make it much longer without fluids.
Any tips?
