Hi, today I noticed an issue with one of my 7 week old chicks. The lower jaw or wattle area is a greenish, bluish color and very swollen. I saw a thread from 2010 about a similar issue, saying it was a bruise. I have no idea, and I was immediately worried about infection and necrosis. Upon examining the chick, There doesn't seem to be an airway obstruction, the chick can move it's beak just fine, and it's still as perky and active as ever. There is no drainage, no smell, and the chick has no respiratory symptoms. He is one of 14 chicks hatched out by hen, and today was their first day out in the run (they're outgrowing their brood pen). I noticed the chick as we were letting them out.
Is this a bruise or something else? Thank you!
