Chick with Head Injury

Our two month old Buff chick pecked our old dog one time too many and he snapped at her. He punctured one of her ears and the top of her skull. After 3 or 4 days, she started getting vertigo and shaking her head. We took her to the vet who gave her brain swelling meds and started her on antibiotics and she has healed up and passed the infection stage fine.

We just passed two weeks after the injury and are coming up on two weeks of the vertigo, now she stands on her head and walks backwards. She eats, preens, chirps and seems very active. Some times, if she focuses, she can right her head and move foreword, but she soon gets dizzy and has a spell. She still like to be held and takes water from a syringe. The vet thinks her vestibular system was injured, but doesn't have any idea if it will heal. We think it is a good sign that this didn't start until several days after the initial injury, but the vet really doesn't have any idea if it will correct or not. She did mention the possibility of an x-ray or MRI to see if any bone fragments are lodged in her brain, but admitted she had no idea bones were a cause.

I am not finding any information on brain injury and this condition anywhere.

She was a runt chick left over at the garden store where my girlfriend works, and we brought her home to add to our flock. She has turned out to be quite a fighter, even before this thing happened and she doesn't seem to want to give up, so it's sad to put her down if this might get better with time.

Anybody have any suggestions or information that can help?
