A friend of mine hatched a chick with a deformed foot. She took the baby inside and raised it because the mom refused it and the other chickens were attacking it. She named her "Nugget" Nugget would come when she wqas called and was almost potty trained, I kid you not. As time went by, Nugget grew larger so my friend put her in the barn with the others. Nugget has lost most of her back feathers from the ornery hens but she did go on to lay eggs and hatch them for herself.....Sad to see little Nugget and her naked back, though. :-(
