Hello! So I just got chicks in the mail yesterday, and one chick arrived with pretty bad pasty butt. I cleaned it up and the chick is surprisingly doing really well! I checked all the other chicks and they don't look like they have pasty butt, but I noticed our Silkie chick has a super messy butt. I took her out and there was no droppings plugging her vent, there was just poop on all the feathers around the vent. When the chicks first arrived they seemed to have some diarrhea so maybe that is why it is so messy (their poop is now normal today). Should I clean the chick's bottom or trim the feathers around the vent? should I just leave the poop there? I am not sure what to do, but I for sure know it isn't pasty butt. Thanks!

Clean the chick, you do not want sicknesses or other things. Trim feathers if you cannot get the poo off.
