I have a 4 week old EE chick (was sold as an Aracauna) that is fully feathered out but doesn't have a comb. My other chickens are in various stages of comb development but where the others have the little ridges, she is completely smooth. She is the smallest of the chicks but as I said, she is completely featherd.

Has anyone else had this??

It will develop in time. She's probably a girl.

EE don't have full combs, they have pea combs and a females can stay pretty flat before developing. Don't worry about it

She's an EE, she won't have a "ridge" (single comb) She sill have a small, bubbly comb called a strawberry comb (shoot is that the right word?) and it will show up much later than straight combs breeds.

Thank you guys so much! She just looks a little strange so I wanted to know what the deal is. I have continued to be a bit confused about the different types of combs but haven't been able to really find straight answers about what to expect with my girls. Can anyone suggest a link that shows the different types of combs?

Actually, EE's can have just about any type of comb. I had an EE hen who had a straight comb, and laid green eggs. Had a roo with a rose comb, and of course the pea combs. Your chick sounds to have a pea comb, as a girl, it won't be too visible for a while

Don't know where you're at, but pea combs are wonderful in cold climates!
