I took a chick home from the feedstore today that was being pecked to death by the others. Cages way too crowded, grrrrr.
This chick has a bloody bottom and what looks like a prolapse maybe. When she breathes a balloon-like bubble of skin inflates and goes in and out, then collapses and then fills again. I tried pushing it gently back in, but it comes right back out. Also, tried PrepH and sugar, but no change. I will try to post a picture. Any suggestions welcome.

Soak it's bottom in warm water so you can better see what's going on, and if the bleeding continues.

Seperate that chick from ALL others! Put a piece of cardboard around it or in part of the brooder so the others can't see the blood. They'll start pecking it if they see blood!!!

If the insides are coming out, as it appears to be in the photo, it would be best to cull to stop the suffering.

HUGS!

Thanks for the advice. Normally, I would always separate from other chicks, but this chick that it was with was so weak, had broken toes, hurt wing and possible internal injuries, and was not pecking the other surprisingly. It cuddled with it, but did not peck, I closely, closely watched. I forgot to mention I had washed with a tea iodine wash with warm water and then before going to bed, tried the honey. Sadly, both chicks passed away, but at least they weren't pecked to death and died on a soft blanket in peace. I had a feeling it would be a hard one to save.
