I have a chick we just noticed is wheezing pretty significantly. I grabbed a box to bring her in, video for you all, and get her away from other chicks. I heard her give out some diarrhea, and when I looked in, I saw something bloody that I'm fairly certain was not in the box before. (Too bad I didn't use a brand new box!!) A picture of the bloody diarrhea is here. The subsequent diarrhea seems not bloody. Just wet.

This is one of my love-child miracle hatches from the massive thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/help-humidity-all-wrong.1250863/ so the chick is almost exactly a month old.

Help?

The chick's crop was a little soft when I first brought her in, but I tried to empty the crop just now, and I got nothing. It must have just been water that kept going through. Definitely not sour crop. I know that smell very well, and we don't have that. And the crop is not retaining solids or liquids.

I'm looking at this page, and there's no "bloody diarrhea" option to help me out. There hasn't been any blood since that one that I photographed, but the chick also has a pretty empty digestive system right now.

Dog gone it, I have to leave the house for a little while. I'm not sure what to do. I'm going to have to put it somewhere and give it some water. The problem will be keeping it confined...I need an extra dog cage!

No, I do not use medicated feed. Should I?
Well, some people do and some don't, but it is further evidence for a differential diagnosis. I am pretty sure it's cocci. Hopefully one of the members I tagged will come share more about dosing. Do you have a feed store near you? Most sell Corid in either powder packets or liquid, it's marketed for cattle but can be dosed for chick/ens. If no one pops in I will try to look up one of the dosing posts.

Dog gone it! I thought I was totally prepared! I have Fenbendazole, Albendazole, Amoxicillin, Cephalexin, and Ivermectin all on hand. Will any of those do it? Calling around about Corid...
